The University of Colorado women’s basketball team was down by just one point going into halftime of Sunday’s game in Austin, Texas.
But a 20-6 Longhorn run to start the second half left the Buffaloes in the dust, as CU fell 67-50.
Colorado has dropped back-to-back games in the Big 12 just twice this season. The Buffs fall to 11-9 overall (2-5 Big 12), while Texas, who has won three consecutive games, improves to 14-7 (3-4 Big 12).
With her 113th consecutive start, senior forward Brittany Spears set a school record. Spears recorded a team-best of 16 points, including the Buffs’ last nine points. Junior forward Julie Seabrook and sophomore guard Chucky Jeffery each came in with 10 points.
The Buffs stay on the road for their final trip to Lawrence to face the Kansas Jayhawks at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2.
