Our Editorial Commitment

Please note: Culture Up (cuindependent.com) is an independent publication and is not affiliated, associated, or connected in any way with cuindependent.org.
Why this page exists
At Culture Up, we publish content to help you stay informed about the stories, people, trends, and developments shaping the world around you. This page explains how we research, write, review, and update what you read, and how we make money without letting it bend our coverage. If we ever fall short of what is written here, we want to hear about it.
Everything below exists to earn four things from you: that what we write comes from real experience with the topics we cover, that the people writing it know what they’re talking about, that we’re a source worth trusting for news and information, and that you can rely on what’s here.
Those four things, experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness, are the actual goal of this policy, not just the sourcing and disclosure rules underneath it.
Our job is to give you clear, useful, and honest coverage across celebrity news, entertainment, technology, culture, and everything in between.
We write for real readers, not for search engines, and we would rather tell you when something is uncertain than pad a page or present speculation as fact.
Our advice is independent of our advertisers
The people who write and edit our content decide what we cover. Advertisers, sponsors, affiliate partners, and PR contacts do not get to choose our topics, our conclusions, or our recommendations, and no company can pay for a better rating or guaranteed coverage. When money and editorial meet, editorial wins.
How we create our content
Every piece starts with a topic we believe is genuinely useful or relevant to you, followed by research and a draft. We edit for accuracy, clarity, and tone before anything is published.
We write original work
Everything we publish is original work. Every piece starts with a topic we believe is genuinely useful or relevant to you, followed by research and a draft. We edit for accuracy, clarity, and tone before anything is published.
On the occasions we reference a report, study, or someone else’s reporting, we credit the source clearly and link back to it; so you always know where the information came from.
How we use AI, and where we draw the line
We use AI tools to help with parts of our workflow such as brainstorming, outlining, research, and tightening wording. We do not publish raw AI output. Every article is reviewed, edited, and approved by a human who is responsible for the final result, checks the facts, and adds real experience and judgment. We never use AI to fabricate quotes, statistics, sources, or credentials.
How we handle sensitive topics
Standards shift as readers, culture, and the world change, so we don’t work from a fixed list of forbidden subjects. Instead, when a topic could be sensitive to any part of our audience, even if it doesn’t feel sensitive to the writer, the writer flags it to an editor before working on it. The editor weighs whether covering the topic fits what Culture Up is here to do, and makes the final call on whether and how it runs. Where a sensitive piece could affect advertisers or the business more broadly, the editor loops in the relevant people with enough notice to respond appropriately.
How we use social media sources
Social media can be an important source for breaking news and public statements, but a viral post alone is not proof that something happened.
We make reasonable efforts to verify the source, authenticity, and context before treating social media information as fact. We do not present speculation, edited clips, screenshots, or viral chatter as confirmed reporting without additional verification.
Who writes for us, and why you can trust them
Our content carries a named author or is produced by our editorial team, and we do not publish anonymous filler. Our writers and editors bring real, relevant experience to the subjects they cover, and where a piece benefits from outside expertise we say so.
Corrections and updates
We correct mistakes promptly. When you flag a factual error, an outdated figure, a broken link, or a misattribution, we review it and fix it.
Email taylor@cuindependent.com with the article title or link and the specific problem, and we will look into it fairly.
Beyond fixing errors, information changes on its own, so we also revisit older articles to refresh outdated details, add new information, and keep things current even when nothing was wrong to begin with.
Either way, when we make a significant change we update the “last updated” date at the top of the page, and we do not bump that date just to look fresh.

Meet the Editorial Team
Editor
I hold a degree in English Literature, which shaped my close attention to structure, clarity, and precision in written work. That academic background also trained me in research, reading sources critically, cross-checking references, and verifying that claims made in a piece are actually supported before they go to print. Over the years, I have edited copy for several small publications, developing a disciplined approach to reviewing content line by line rather than skimming for surface-level errors.
strategeist
- Education: MBA in Marketing, certified in content strategy and SEO
- Experience: 12+ years working with multi-category publications
I use audience insights to support meaningful growth. My work involves reviewing site performance, interpreting analytics, researching competitors, and spotting opportunities within existing content. I turn those findings into practical content plans, clearer site structures, and smoother user journeys. For me, the goal is simple: help the right people reach useful content, stay engaged, and have a genuine reason to return.
