Legend has it that the Downer serves the greatest amount of Pabst Blue Ribbon of any bar in the United States, so Boulder is bound to have some PBR fanatics around. If you’re feeling particularly keen on PBR, head over to the Sundown Saloon this Tuesday night for their first ever PBR art show. The winner receives their height in PBR and the glory of knowing they won a beer-inspired art show at the grungiest, smelliest bar in Boulder.
Normally, PBR holds an annual art show in Denver, but this year, Boulder and Fort Collins will each have their own show. To enter your blue ribbon-inspired artwork into the show, show up at the Downer with your artwork ready to hang. Go to PBRart.com and fill out the entry form and submit a photo of your artwork to the site. This will enter you into the 2012
national contest. The artist with the most popular art, determined by a vote, will win probably less than $10 worth of beer, determined by their height, but the glory will last at least until the winner blacks out from the Downer’s insanely inexpensive PBR pitchers.
Submissions in the past have included full walls of PBR-inspired graffiti, decorated boom boxes, and all kinds of paintings and graphic designs. From gothic, to bubbly and sweet, and from retro and nostalgic to modern, PBR fans are generally a creative bunch. There’s art that depicts roller girls, body builders, and zombies drinking PBR. There’s PBR costumes made out of boxes and bicycles made out of cans. There’s PBR cans with rainbows pouring out of them. There’s soft porn, skeletons, poetry, philosophical art, personified beer cans, and everything else imaginable. Check out PBRart.com to view past art entries and to enter your own art.
PBR reminds you to “never drink and drive but to drink and draw all night.”
