This week is the inaugural week of the CU Independent’s “End of the Decade” series, a look back at the best of pop culture from 2000-2009. Every week from Monday to Thursday, you the viewer will have the chance to vote on four different categories of pop culture elements.
The series starts this week and will run through the end of the semester, except for the week of Thanksgiving. Each day, there will be a poll where you will select two winners from a pool of five, with a different category each day. Mondays will be a selection of movies, Tuesdays will feature live music performances, vote for the best of TV on Wednesdays and on Thursdays, pick your favorite albums. We will reveal the top 10 of all four categories on the week of Dec. 7.
The Office (U.S.) (2005-present): The chemistry between Jim and Pam, the antics of Dwight and Michael’s wackiness keep audiences watching.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (1999-present): This show not only brought a comedic edge to the news, but also introduced us to two prolifically funny Steves: Carell and Colbert.
24 (2001-present): Kiefer Sutherland’s role as espionage agent Jack Bauer has not only won him a Golden Globe, but also fans worldwide as he tries to save in the world in a span of 24 hours.
Dancing with the Stars (2005-present): This ABC reality show that restarted the careers of Mario Lopez, Joey Fatone, Kristi Yamaguchi and Mel B. of the Spice Girls also introduced audiences to the world of ballroom and its many styles of dance including the Waltz and Paso Doble.
Dexter (2006-present): This Showtime drama about a convert serial killer that works at the Miami Metro Police Department is based off the novels written by Jeff Lindsay.
