Mall crawl: A look at the lifeblood of the 29th Street Mall

Mix of branded and unique businesses fuel pedestrian mall’s success

Not in 35 years has Boulder seen so big a commercial development as the 29th Street Mall — and it’s still growing.

The new 16-screen Cinemark movie theater, slated to open last October, officially opened last month just in time for the new school year.

In addition to the new movie theater, 29th Street Mall has a variety of new stores and restaurants many students may not have not heard of. Here is a quick list of the more unique stores open at the 29th Street Mall:

The place to go for anything pet related. Muttropolis sells everything from doggie beds to unique leashes and toys for pets.

A clothing company designed for the outdoors, The Territory Ahead creates clothes aimed for the outdoor lifestyle over fashion.

Not a bad place to go after a long day when a massage sounds nice. Massage Envy offers massages that help pain management, relaxation and stress relief for both men and women.

Upcoming attractions

The 29th Street Mall is not complete. Some stores opening in the near future include:

>> Ruby’s Diner

Though it is a major chain restaurant, this is the first Islands to open in Colorado. The restaurant offers a variety of burgers and has a tropical theme all around the restaurant.

An Italian restaurant that prides itself on the essence of Italian cuisine, and says it is where one can eat simply, purely and enthusiastically.

Open for both lunch and dinner, Railyard is a place for steaks and chops. Seafood is also available.

The mall also offers a variety of popular chain stores such as Border’s, Puma, Macy’s, Apple store, Jamba Juice and Chipotle Mexican Grill.
