This year CU students’ Halloween costumes are being torn between two categories: sexy and scary.
In the past it has been popular for women on campus to add a sexy touch to their Halloween costumes. This year there are many new creative costume ideas, but similar patterns to last year are recurring.
“Most college women want sexy, sexy, sexy,” said Manda Pendleton, a costume designer at The Ritz costume store.
Pendleton said even though she prefers to be creative and the Ritz carries a variety of choices, the most popular costume this year was the “naughty nurse.” For men, Pendleton said a mask from the movie “V for Vendetta” was selling out quickly.
When it came to choosing Halloween costumes this year, students had a many different ideas:
“Me and my five friends are going to be NWA, it’s a hip hop group. Basically chains and ghetto wear,” Pedrom Ghafoori, sophomore philosophy major.
“I’m going to be Indiana Jones, which I thought of when I was watching it,” Dan Brill, sophomore journalism major.
“I’m dressing as Aquaman, ’cause he’s my hero,” Sean Stephens, sophomore open-option major.
“I’m going to be Miami Vice. Basically I’m wearing pastel beneath a white suite,” Tucker Forbes, sophomore history major.
“My friend thought I should be Marilyn Monroe. I just got my outfit at a costume shop and then my mom cut it because it was way too long,” Helen Fucci, junior psychology major.
“I don’t know what I’m going to be yet. I’ll just throw something together at the last minute,” Annie Mcilvennan, junior psychology major.
