MONDAY
Free Yoga Classes
Feeling stressed out about school? Need to get your mind and body in shape? CU’s Yoga & Meditation Club offers free yoga classes out on the Norlin Quad every Monday and Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
TUESDAY
State of the Campus
Join Chancellor DiStefano as he addresses the important issues that affect all CU students, faculty and staff, including his priorities in the school’s near future, the progress of the “Flagship 2030 Strategic Plan” and an update of the Creating Futures fundraising campaign. He will speak in the Glenn Miller Ballroom at the UMC from 8 to 9 a.m. A continental breakfast will precede the speech at 7:30 a.m.
WEDNESDAY
Your Brain on Art
Ever wondered how art connects to your brain? The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art is hosting a three-part series on how creativity is connected to your noggin. This week, artists from Boulder, Denver and Washington, D.C. will discuss improvisation. The talk begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for the public and free for members. Free screening of “Waiting for Superman”
If you want to learn more about the American education system, then join Teach for America as they host a free screening of the recent documentary, “Waiting for Superman.” Stick around after the movie for a discussion on education today and what Teach for America is doing to change it. Film plays in Hale 270 at 7 p.m. And there’s free pizza!
THURSDAY
Building a New Nature Movement for the 21st Century, a presentation by Richard Louv
Author, Richard Louv will speak in the Glenn Miller Ballroom at the UMC at 6:30 p.m. Louv wrote “Last Child in the Woods,” as well as “The Nature Principle,” his latest book. His work considers the relationship of nature and community. A signing of his book will follow the presentation. Visit the CU Environmental Center website for more information.
Ladies Night at Absinthe
Join the CU Independent as the Absinthe bar hosts it’s weekly “ladies night,” where ladies drink free. Stop by our table and say hi!
FRIDAY
Showing of “Happy”
Do you like being happy? Come check out Roko Belic’s film “Happy” to find out how you can be joyful all the time. Belic explores how psychology, neuroscience and multicultural wisdom play into the attainment of happiness. Film screens at 7 and 9 p.m. in Muenzinger Auditorium. Admission is free for film studies students and $6 for all other CU students.
Battle of the Bands
Come to CU’s annual Battle of the Bands in the Glenn Miller Ballroom at the UMC! CU’s best bands will battle it out on the stage and as they are judged by some distinguished professionals of the music industry. If you have a band with at least one CU student, pick up your application in the Program Council office, UMC 401.
SATURDAY
CU Volleyball vs. Arizona
Cheer on your Colorado Buffs as they take on the Arizona Wildcats at 7 p.m. in the Coors Events Center. Tickets are free for all CU students!
