MONDAY
Advanced Screening of Hell and Back Again
What is it really like for the soldiers fighting in Afghanistan? Come check out the free sneak peek of Danfung Dennis’ highly praised film, Hell and Back Again. Film begins at 9 p.m. in Old Main on the CU Campus.
SCUBA training
Have you ever wondered what is on the bottom of the ocean? Get SCUBA trained for your next vacation and find out! The Outdoor Program’s Beginning SCUBA course teaches you basic SCUBA knowledge required for certification. A new session begins this Monday at 6 p.m. Register and find out more information on the Outdoor Program page of the Rec Center website.
Visiting Artist Lecture Series: Binh Danh
Check out the work of visiting Vietnamese artist, Binh Danh from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Visual Arts Complex 1B20. Binh Danh’s work examines his Vietnamese culture as well as the collective memory of war in Vietnam and Cambodia.
WEDNESDAY
Advanced screening of What’s Your Number?
Program Council hosts a free advanced screening of Anna Faris’s latest film at Century Theatre. Check out this movie about a woman who examines all of her past relationships in hopes of finding “the one.” Screening begins at 7 p.m. Passes are available in the Program Council office in UMC 401 or on the Program Council site.
“Aperture: A Triumph of Science”
Come support CU student filmmakers! This mockumentary short film will make its premiere in ATLAS on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. Danielle Ate the Sandwich will be performing in the ATLAS lobby at 7:30 p.m. prior to the screening. Snacks and cake are included at this free event.
Garrett Oliver: The Oxford Companion to Beer
Like beer? Garrett Oliver will be speaking about and signing copies of his newest book, The Oxford Companion to Beer, at the Boulder Book Store at 7:30 p.m. this Wednesday. Come hear about this brew master’s adventures in beer and enjoy some cold ones. Vouchers can be purchased for $5. Find more information on the Boulder Book Store website.
THURSDAY
The CU Independent’s Ladies’ Night at Absinthe House
Join the CU Independent at Absinthe House this Thursday night. Ladies drink for free from 10 p.m. until midnight. Stop by to say hello to the CUI staff and get your dance and drink on!
FRIDAY
Family Weekend at CU
Family Weekend begins on Friday with a golf tournament at 9 a.m., followed by a Welcome Luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. Then don’t miss the Buffalo Stampede on Pearl Street at 7 p.m. For details and registration for the weekend, visit the Family Weekend website.
SATURDAY
Horse Feathers in CLUB 156
Program Council presents Horse Feathers in Club 156 this Saturday from 9 to 11 p.m. The band will be playing tracks from their newest album, Thistled Spring.
CU vs. Washington State
Cheer on your Buffs with or without your family during CU’s homecoming match-up against the Washington State Cougars at 1:30 p.m. Enjoy a pre-game brunch at 11 a.m.
SUNDAY
Family Weekend concludes
Finish up with the Buffalo Family Stampede 5K Run/Walk from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in Balch Field House Plaza. Now say goodbye to your family and hello to the $20 they slipped you on their way out.
