With these 90 degree days, it still doesn’t feel like summer should be over. Fortunately, Boulder still has a lot of fun summertime activities still to look forward to. Check out this weekly guide to see what’s happening this week.
Monday
An Evening with Joel Salatin: Local Foods to the Rescue
Joel Salatin is one of the country’s leaders in the local and organic food revolution. He is best known for his appearance in the bestselling book, “Omnivore’s Dilemma,” and the documentary, “Food, Inc.” Salatin will be speaking at the Chautauqua Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. about the steps that must be taken to create a sustainable food future for everyone. Admission is $20.
Tuesday
Folk Dancing on the Plaza
Come learn how to folk dance this week on the plaza near the Dushanbe Teahouse. Teaching from 7 – 8 p.m. and dancing until 10 p.m. No experience, partner or admission fee required!
Faculty Tuesday Series Presents French Wind Masters
The College of Music kicks off its first event with the free Faculty Tuesday Series this week. Christina Jennings (flute) and Margaret McDonald (piano) will join members of the CU Wind Faculty for an evening of music for winds written by the French masters. Event begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Grusin Music Hall, Imig Music Building.
Wednesday
Pedal Chasers by MyHandleBar
Have you always wanted to do a pub-crawl on a giant bicycle with 16 other people? Well then Pedal Chasers has exactly what you need. Rally your friends together and meet at 17th and Walnut for Boulder’s most unique pub-crawl. A $25 admission fee gets you two hours on the bike and great discounts at select bars and breweries around town. Meeting times are at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday night.

Ignite Boulder 16
Come check out this public speaking event with some of Boulder’s most creative, geeky and quirky people. Speakers get only 20 Powerpoint slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds to convey their topic of choice. Learn something new and enjoy the fun that ensues. Admission is $10. Doors at the Boulder Theater open at 6 p.m.
Take it OUT! Outdoor Fitness Classes
Take advantage of the beautiful summer weather before it’s over with these awesome outdoor fitness classes. Classes meet daily through September 28 at the southwest corner of 13th and Canyon. For more information and a detailed class schedule, visit Take it OUT!’s website.

Boulder Juried Art Show
Come see some award-winning art at the Boulder Art Association’s fourth annual juried art show at the Chautauqua Community House in Chautauqua Park this weekend. This year’s exhibit features the theme “COLOR-ado.” Show is free and open to the public on Friday from 12 – 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday
CU Football at Hawaii
The CU Buffs launch their 2011 season against Hawaii’s Rainbow Warriors this Saturday. Grab your friends and cheer on the Buffs as they make their debut in the Pac-10 Conference. The game airs at 8:15 p.m. on ESPN2.
Boulder’s 13th annual hometown fair begins this Saturday at 11 a.m. in Central Park. Come check out local businesses, artists, and musicians and bond with your fellow Boulderites.
Romanian Festival
Check out the Romanian Festival on the Pearl Street Mall this Friday. Learn about Romanian culture through dancing, books, art and, of course, delicious food!
Sunday
Boulder Creek Hometown Fair
The fair continues, this time with a classic car show! The show goes from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the fair ends at 8 p.m. in Central Park.
