CU students Mary Reynolds and Briana Horley are safe after crews rescued the two 19-year-olds between the First and Second Flatiron.
Detective Commander Rick Brough said the exact location of the rescue is unknown.
“They got stranded while scrambling, which means they were climbing without any technical equipment, near the First Flatiron,” Brough said.
According to a Boulder County news release, dispatch received the rescue call at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday night and reached the students at about 7:55 p.m. the same night.
Brough said Deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and volunteers from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group came to the scene. Pridemark Paramedic services and a Boulder mountain park ranger also assisted.
Brough said rescues services found the two girls and helped them to safety by 9 p.m. Brough said neither student sustained any injuries.
“It took about an hour to get them back down to the Bluebell Shelter.” Brough said.
