The Buffs couldn’t come through on the final day of their season.
Colorado women’s golf finished fourth in the Alamo Invitational Tournament in San Antonio, Texas, on Tuesday. The Buffs finished the tournament with a 3 round score of 883.
The Buffs trailed winner TCU by 6 strokes, as the Horned Frogs finished 13-over for the tournament.
Texas A&M finished in second with a 16-over 880, and Notre Dame came in third with a three-day total of 882.
Junior Jess Wallace finished the tournament in second, going 3-under for the tournament. She was one stroke behind the winner, TCU junior Brooke Beeler. Wallace shot a 75 on the day, including three birdies on the front nine holes.
Junior Emily Talley finished tied for fourth, shooting 74 on the day, and a 1-over 217 over three rounds.
A strong individual effort from Wallace the previous day couldn’t keep the Buffs in the lead during their second day of competition, which saw No. 17 Colorado fall to third. The drop came in spite of Wallace shooting a school record of 66 on the day.
Finishing day two with a score of 291, the Buffs were left in a tie with Texas A&M and behind both TCU and Tulane.
Wallace opened her record-breaking round with a 1-under the front nine holes, with two birdies and a bogey.
Shooting 31 on the back nine holes, with an eagle and three birdies, also matched the school record for best score on nine holes.
Freshman Kristin Coleman tied for 50th individually, after shooting a 2-over 74 on the day.
After shooting an 80 on Monday while suffering with a cold and shooting a double bogey on the first hole, Coleman bounced back to save par on the front nine holes, and played 2-under on the back nine holes.
Despite being tied for the lead coming into Monday, Talley struggled, shooting a 4-over 76. She shot a triple bogey on the 11th hole, and sat tied for third overall.
Tessa The, who has replaced injured sophomore Taylor Doyle, shot 75 on the second day of competition.
Freshman Jenny Coleman finished tied for 65th after posting a second round 79.
On the final day of completion, Tuesday, the Coleman sisters, freshmen Jenny and Kristin, both scored 76. Kristin finished with a three-day score of 230, while Jenny shot a 236.
They struggled on the final day, shooting a 9-over 81, and finished the tournament with a 228. Despite Tuesday’s struggles, they recorded the second most birdies of the tournament with 12.
Colorado will take a few months off before for returning to action Feb. 19 in the Peg Barnard Invitational in Stanford, Calif.
