Saturday’s game against Calif. might just be a sign of things to come for the Colorado Buffaloes’ season and their move to the Pac-10.
The Bears stomped the Buffs 52-7. Colorado has not won an away game since 2007 and increases its road losing streak to 13.
Calif. was on top from the beginning, and junior CU quarterback Tyler Hansen’s errors set the Buffaloes even farther back. The Bears turned two Buff first-half turnovers into touchdowns.
Calif.’s longest first-half drive, 72 yards in six plays, made their lead 24-0 with 10:29 left in the first half.
The Buffs kept possession for the next 8:16 and made it to the Bears’ 2-yard line. However, after a chop block penalty on junior guard Ryan Miller and a false start call on senior tackle Nate Solder (two of CU’s eight penalties in the first half) the Buffs were pushed back to the 23-yard line.
Shortly after, senior Aric Goodman missed a 42-yard field goal attempt.
Calif. returned another Hansen interception 41 yards for the Bears’ last touchdown of the first half.
CU went into halftime trailing 31-0 and did not get their first points until 2:37 remaining in the third quarter. Hansen ran 4 yards on a keeper, to make the score 31-7.
Calif. answered with a touchdown of their own early in the fourth quarter. Then again with 6:49 to play, to push their lead to 45-7.
Calif.’s Darian Hagan Jr., son of CU running backs coach Darian Hagan, capped the game off with an 82-yard fumble return for a touchdown with 34 seconds remaining on the board.
The Buffs’ 52-7 loss was a disappointment to Hansen who tweeted after the game (before retracting it to say simply “We’ll be ok”).
Hansen said, “Going out there and playing like that will never happen again while I’m at Colorado and I can promise that! It’s unacceptable.”

Ok Hansen………u better get ready to see more games like that……this season is going to be horrible get ready. That game was a preview there are so many harder teams ahead. Nebraska is going to make us look like a high school team so is Georgia basically i wouldn’t be shocked if we loose every game but Hawaii and thats not even a given right now.
We should be a D2 team seriously can u even imagine when we have to play Stanford, USC, Oregon and UTAH. It will be so embarrassing to be a Buff for alot of years ahead no one is gonna want to come here. The recruits stink right now it will take a solid 4 years to be a .500 team. Hansen stinks by the way with him as our QB you can kiss any chance of a Bowl game at 0.0000 come back at me when im right.
