As the weather gradually gets warmer and the sun stays out longer, visions of summer break occasionally get in the way of those study reviews and portfolio projects. With the year winding down, the Campus Press asked students what their plans were for this summer.
“I am going home to Highlands Ranch where I will hopefully have an internship in project management,” said Katie Houser, a sophomore business marketing major. “I’ll also be working at a call center. I might go to Montana for a week but I have to work for school.”
“I am going to Greece just to travel and visit friends and then I am going to Mexico to just have fun,” said Michael Messimer, a junior mechanical engineering major.
Jesse Jensen, a junior political science and history major, said she is mentoring in the Make-A-Wish Foundation volunteer program.
“You pair up with a middle school student and get to know them over the summer and then keep up with them throughout the school year,” Jensen said. “I am also working on political campaigns, probably for Mark Udall and Will Shafroth.”
Salem Chaker, a senior civil engineering major, said he plans on going to Lebanon for his brother’s wedding party.
“I’ll be there for the summer and I will be visiting family,” Chaker said. When asked what he planned to do in while in Lebanon he responded “girls.”
Elissa Abbott, a sophomore integrative physiology major, will be going to work full-time at a golf course in Windsor, Colo. as the beer cart girl.
Alison Merkle, a junior art history major and Kaydee Shultz, a junior business major, are planning to nanny over the summer.
“We want to chill by the pool and take the kids to the park everyday,” they said. “We are also going to run the Bolder Boulder.”
