Restaurant pleases customers with pizzas, prices and service
California Pizza Kitchen, located in the new 29th Street Mall, provides unique and tasty pizza choices for those tired of the usual toppings and sauces.
CPK is decorated with modern hanging lamps, large windows, bright paintings of vegetables and fruits, flat-screen televisions, mirrors and glass. Perhaps most impressive is the big yellow pizza oven and open kitchen so that customers can see their pizza being made.
The booth where my party sat was bright, clean and comfortable. The environment inside CPK is inviting and friendly.
Our server, Kimberly, was prompt and smiley, and even though we took a long time to pick which pizza out of all the delicious-sounding choices on the menu, she didn’t seem to mind us being such pokey customers.
The booth we were at was surprisingly quiet and private-miraculous considering that a birthday party with a few children was in the booth next to ours. The tables were nicely spaced apart from one another and it was good not to be able to hear conversations from all the tables around us.
For an appetizer, we ordered the Avocado Club Egg Rolls ($8.79): “A fusion of East and West with chunks of fresh avocado, chicken, tomato, Monterey Jack cheese and applewood smoked bacon, wrapped in a crispy wonton roll. Served with ranchito sauce and herb ranch dressing.”
The egg rolls were beautifully displayed on the plate and were warm, crunchy and fresh. An eclectic and tasty combination. The dressing to dip the rolls in was the perfect consistency and flavor. I was glad that they served the appetizer with both the ranchito sauce and the herb ranch dressing because the two are actually a lot different from one another but equally delicious. I switched up which sauce to dip in each time I took a bite.
