This fall there is a trend for every mood. Feeling glamorous? Step out in fur, faux fur, or flirty layers. Feeling a little fun and exotic? Funky colored ballet flats, animal print, and leggings are all the rage. And for those classic, chic days, go for a retro or plaid look. Whatever your mood may be you can dress it up this fall.
The fashion world has gone mad for plaid and animal prints this fall. Whether it be a small leopard print clutch, or a wide snakeskin belt, animal prints are in. Plaid is the print of the season, but not the old school look, a more modern chic look such as a swingy plaid skirt paired with a fitted jacket.
“Denim is always good,” said Kristine Dellavechil, the manager of Lola on the Hill, “the skinny jean is huge.”
If you are shorter, do not fear the skinny jean. Just pair them up with some cute heels and your legs will instantly be elongated.
“It’s an even mix of round toe, pointy, and square-toed heels. Suede is in and wedges are definitely prominent,” said Ashley Taylor, the owner of Frolic Shoes for Her, “I feel like there is an equestrian influence this season. Ballet flats and flat boots are in also.”
If you don’t recall the go-go decade, know now that the ’80s are coming back. Knit dresses are worn with dark tights and boots for a very chic update. From sweater dresses to leggings the fashion trends of the ’80s are back with a bang.
“Long sweaters are in style this year, the short boots, leggings and belts
that ride high, too,” said freshman Lauren Webb, a open-option major.
Any outfit can be dressed up to perfection with a few perfectly picked
accessories.
“Quilted accessories, scarves, and headbands are great. Gold jewelry is huge, and lots of it,” said Dellavechil.
As far as bags go this season, the bigger the bag the better.
“Trends for handbags are larger in size and shoulder bags with limited
embellishment,” said Taylor.
In the evening you can dress your look up with a hand-held clutch.
Colors for this fall range from neutral blacks, browns and tans to reds and
greens. Any neutral outfit can be jazzed up with a splash of color.
“Brown and turquoise are a great mix,” said sophomore Meghan Free, an education and linguistics major.
