If a poll were to be taken of people that live in the Boulder area, probably less than five percent of those surveyed could pick CU men’s basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik out of a lineup of faces. The former Air Force coach has made the trek up Interstate Highway 25 more quietly than a fall leaf settling on the ground.

Living in the dorms as a first year college student is full of exciting encounters: freedom to keep a fridge stocked with drinks that only you like, flirtatious elevator rides and, of course, having the ability to invite someone over to “your place.”
Most dorm rooms are doubles, and most roommates are friends, so what happens when your friend wants to have a guy who is “more-than-a-friend” over to your place?
You leave.

So read an advertisement for Ace Discount Liquors that ran in the Sept. 20 edition of The Onion. Next to the caption is a minstrel-like photograph of a white man made to look like Ace’s idea of a bum: week-old beard blacked and yellowed teeth, crazy eyes and a deranged expression.

Last week, the story in Major League Baseball was not the Colorado Rockies’ incredible run to the World Series or the Cleveland Indians’ commanding 3-1 lead in the America League Championship Series.
The story was Joe Torre declining to manage the New York Yankees next season.

The Colorado Opportunity Fund. Student stipend. We’ve all heard of it. For struggling college students like you and me, COF is a gift – yet another example of the government’s overwhelming generosity and benevolence for in-state students. But is it? Take a closer look.

Being known as one of the most environmentally friendly campuses in the nation is a big deal.
CU definitely seems to understand the importance of fighting global warming through its various programs, ideas, projects and blueprints in place to keep the school green.

College is about new experiences, discovering yourself, and this little thing called school. When I graduate I want to have something to remember about my college experience, and not have my memories on commencement day flash before my eyes. That is why I plan to do these things before I graduate, and I will give you some suggestions too.

Dear Tom Osborne, You were very smart to ask my advice in helping you turn the Huskers football program back around. Becoming the new athletic director is a big deal. So here’s what you do.

Cody Hawkins threw three interceptions in the 20-47 loss to Kansas State University last weekend. University of Kansas quarterback Todd Reesing has thrown four interceptions the entire season. Both standing 5-11 (although rumor has it Reesing is more like 5-9), the 19-year-old quarterbacks are only the beginning of the stats standing against the Buffs in their game against Kansas this weekend.
