The University of Colorado women’s basketball team played a tight game with the California Golden Bears Friday night, but did not end up on top. They lost by three to No. 7 Cal in the closing seconds (59-56).
Junior Brittany Wilson scored 11 points for the Buffs, and senior Chucky Jeffery contributed 10.
Cal, who tied the series at five games a piece, was led by Gennifer Brandon and Layshia Clarendon with 13 points each. Brandon also had 10 rebounds.
Redshirt freshman Arielle Roberson, who is the second leading scorer for the Buffs, did not score until the second half.
The Buffs are now 15-3 overall with a 4-3 record in the Pac-12. Cal improves to a 16-2 record overall and 6-1 in the conference.
Going into the match, Cal and Colorado were ranked one and two in the Pac-12. Cal is now ranked second and Colorado fifth.
The Buffs will play three more road games against Stanford, UCLA and USC before returning home on Feb. 8 and 10 to play Oregon State and Oregon.
