With the Buffs Madness basketball pep rally scheduled for this Friday and the men’s and women’s home openers coming up in November, the CUI sports staff thought it would be a good time for the first-ever Basketball Edition sports mailbag. Start reading to find out everything you need to know about the teams’ upcoming events and early home competition.

1) When are the home season openers for men’s and women’s basketball?
The first men’s home game is scheduled for Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. at the Coors Events Center against Wofford College. In mid-November, the men head to Charleston, S.C., for the Charleston Classic, where the Buffs will take on the University of Dayton in the first round on Nov. 15. Other teams participating in the Charleston Classic include the University of Charleston, Baylor University, Boston College, Auburn University, Murray State University and St. John’s University. The women’s team has an exhibition game scheduled for Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. against Western State University, and the first non-exhibition game is set for Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. against the University of Idaho. The women then head to Kansas City to take on the University of Missouri, Kansas City on Nov. 18.
2) What is Buffs Madness, and when is it happening?
Buffs Madness is a basketball pep rally that will take place after Friday night’s home volleyball game at the Coors Events Center, most likely around 8:30 p.m. Admission is free to both the volleyball game and the pep rally. CU fans will be able to watch the women’s and men’s teams practice, be introduced to new players, receive a “C-Unit” fan section “training” and have a chance to win free giveaways, including a ticket for two to accompany the men’s basketball team when the Buffs play the University of Kansas on the road. The Buff band spirit squad, Chip the Buffalo and even Ralphie herself will be present at the event. CU Sports Pass holders receive credit for the game with a swipe of their Buff cards, and pizza will be provided to those who arrive early during the transition between the volleyball game and the rally.
3) How are the CU men’s basketball team’s dancing skills?
