Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball freshman Chucky Jeffery has been making her mark on the court since the beginning of the season, and has finally gained national recognition.
The guard was honored Monday by being named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week for games from Jan. 4-10.
Jeffery averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 5.0 steals in two games during that period.
In those games, the Sierra High School graduate tied a career-best of 19 points and dished out a career-high nine assists during the Buffs bout against Yale. In her Big 12 debut against Missouri, Jeffery tied a career-best by securing eight rebounds.
Honored with Jeffery was Oklahoma State senior guard Andrea Riley, who was selected as the Big 12 Player of the Week.
The Buffs will hit the court again at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Lubbock, Texas against the Texas Tech Lady Raiders.
