Almost everyone has heard about Apple’s most recent addition to the iPod family: the new nano.
The ability to record what is going on at any moment in time seems to be one of the main reasons to purchase this new iPod. The camera comes with a built-in speaker so owners can show their friends the new footage without plugging in earphones.
Users can now add some special effects before showing off their videos as well. There are 15 special effects that can be added on to videos, including sepia and thermal effects.
When asked if she thought it was necessary to have a video camera in the new nano, Annie Frazier, a freshman psychology major, said she didn’t think so.
“It is not necessary because there are already video cameras on everything else like laptops, cell phones, cameras, etc,” Frazier said.
Another feature of the revamped nano is the FM tuner. When the iTunes library isn’t satisfying, listen to some good old radio music.
The nano’s radio is unique when compared to normal radio tuners students say. What makes this radio different from the one in an average car is people can pause what they are listening to–live.
“I’m very excited for the radio because now I can listen to my Rockies games right on my iPod,” said Kathryn Goggin, a freshman journalism major.
Just when it looks like the iPod can do it all, Apple has added on a pedometer to their newest product. With the nano, users can keep track of the distance they walk or run while listening to music.
According to apple.com, when plugged into iTunes, the new nano automatically syncs with nikeplus.com and lists every workout that’s been completed.
The new iPod nano will also save some people who rush to get to class and may forget things like a pen and paper. With the new nano, users can record class lectures using a built-in microphone or voice memos.
The new iPod nano ranges in price from $149 dollars for the 8 gig to $179 for the 16 gig, both versions are available in a variety of colors from apple.com.
