Seinfeld’s latest is fun for everyone
The newest animated film from DreamWorks Animation, “Bee Movie,” is the perfect movie for college students.
Written by and starring comedian Jerry Seinfeld, “Bee Movie” is mainly aimed at children with a few adult jokes to help parents and other older audiences make it through, but it is also a great film for the college demographic.
“Bee Movie” is about Barry B. Benson (Jerry Seinfeld), a bee who simply wants to live a little and not be stuck in one career until his death.
It is a story that should sound familiar to anyone working towards a degree.
Before taking on his lifelong career, Benson ventures out of the hive and explores New York City and meets a human woman named Vanessa (Renée Zellweger) who quickly becomes his friend.
Yes, the bees are fully capable of speaking English and apparently even able to project their voices well enough to have a normal conversation with a person a few feet away.
At one point in the film, the two are in a grocery store and Benson sees all the honey people take from the bees and decides it is unfair and sues the entire human race for taking the honey that is not theirs.
The plot may seem far-fetched even for a cartoon, but the movie does a fair job of conveying morals any college student could benefit from.
Without ruining the whole story, “Bee Movie” does a great job of conveying advice varying from the importance of pursuing dreams rather than what society expects, the importance of teamwork and how even the smallest job can have a huge impact on everything else.
What makes “Bee Movie” more fun than advice from a standard day planner is the comedy.
The colorful and fun animation is pure eye candy for the children but the jokes are completely adult-oriented.
Out of everyone in the theater the teenagers and adults were laughing the most.
The movie has a huge cast that keeps viewers guessing who each character is throughout.
The movie stars Jerry Seinfeld, Renée Zellweger, Matthew Broderick, Patrick Warburton, John Goodman, Chris Rock, Kathy Bates, Larry King, Ray Liotta, Oprah Winfrey and Sting.
The bottom line is that any student who wants to take a break to go out to the movies is in for a treat. With great humor, fun visuals and a character most college students can relate to, “Bee Movie” is a fun way to spend an evening.
