Alpha Chi Omega will host its fourth annual Nacho Fest on Oct. 20 to help raise money for the Boulder County Safehouse.
The event will take place between 10:00 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. at Alpha Chi Omega’s house on 12th Street and Pennsylvania Street.
“We want to promote awareness for domestic violence in the whole community,” said Carrie Classick, president of Alpha Chi Omega and a junior business major.
Tickets for the event cost $3 if purchased in advance and $5 at the door.
“We serve nachos, provide entertainment and have raffles,” said Regan Ricart, a junior communication major and member of Alpha Chi Omega.
Ricart also said that the raffles include gift baskets worth up to $250.
There will be prizes from stores on the Hill and from restaurants in Boulder. A lot of different sponsors donated money to this event, said Classick.
“Our entertainment this year is P-Nuckle. They have generously volunteered to play,” Ricart said.
P-Nuckle will be playing their original songs as well as cover songs.
“We are hoping it’s just a great party and everyone is into the cause,” said Chris LaPlante, a member of the band. “We may have some rappers throw down with us. It’s just going be a fun event, so bring some friends and let’s have a good time.”
P-Nuckle is familiar with Boulder; the band opened for Pepper when it was in Boulder last year.
“We have been trying to associate ourselves with (CU) for a few years now, and we have some ties with Alpha Chi Omega,” LaPlante said.
Ricart said there are 900 people attending so far. The sorority is extending invitations to members of the Greek system, university officials and staff members, as well as the surrounding community.
“It’s a great way to stop by and have food with friends while you are party-hopping on a Saturday night,” Classick said.
