As an adult you need to be aiming for around six to eight hours of sleep each night, failing to get this could result in you constantly feeling exhausted and struggling to get through the day. This could be due to various aches and pains that you may be experiencing, a comfortable mattress should help with this. If your mattress is older than eight years of age then it may be time to invest in a new one. After this time they no longer offer the same level of support that they once did.

You may begin to notice that your metabolism is slowing down, and you are feeling fuller for longer between meals. This isn’t always a good thing, as middle aged spread can start to set in and take you by surprise. However, if you eat little and often then this full feeling can become a thing of the past. Heavier meals will sit in your stomach for longer, which is not good for you.

Water will also help you keep on top of your digestion. Drinking a glass before you get out of bed will ensure your body is ready to start the day. You might also want to drink a full glass before each meal, this will alert your stomach to food and prevent you from eating too much.

Plan For Retirement

There will come a time in your life when you need to think about and consider what you are going to do for your retirement. You don’t want to get to retirement age and have nothing in place financially. This is much softer on your bones and joints, swimming and yoga are also amazing forms of exercise.

Consider Your Cognitive Health

Finally, one thing you need to be aware of as you get older is your cognitive health. Unfortunately, the older you get, the more at risk you become of developing Alzheimer’s or dementia. There are of course puzzles that you can do to keep your brain active. This could be anything from sudoku to crosswords and everything in between. It is thought that meeting your friends at least twice a week can cut down your risk by as much as half. So be sure to say yes, each and every time they ask you out. You don’t have to do anything fancy, you can always just chill out in your own home or theirs.
