The CU Police Department is looking for three suspects in an armed robbery of a student that occurred on east campus last night.
An urgent e-mail was sent out to all CU students, faculty and staff early Wednesday morning regarding an incident that occurred at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday night when a male freshman student was robbed at gunpoint. According to the alert, the student said he was walking north of an underpass at 38th and Colorado on the Skunk Creek Greenway when he was approached by three men who demanded his iPod and wallet.
The victim said that one of the suspects, whom he could not describe, held a knife to his throat. He described the other two suspects as being 6-feet tall and wearing plain black hoodies; one of these suspects was armed with a silver revolver.
The victim notified police at 11:13 p.m. after the suspects left with his iPod Classic and wallet. He did not suffer an injuries from the incident.
Ryan Huff, spokesperson for CUPD, said that police have not found any new information on the case as of yet, but they continue to patrol the area of the crime.
“We are doing extra motorcycle patrols along the bike path in that area and we will continue to do that for some time,” Huff said.
There were six robberies reported on or near campus in 2011 and one in 2010, Huff said. Statistics for 2012 have not been released although one robbery occurred in January.
