The Colorado Buffaloes had no answer for Brady Heslip of the Baylor University Bears in Saturday’s 80-63 loss in the NCAA round of 32. Heslip went 9-of-12 from beyond the 3-point arc, leading all scorers with 27 points.
The Bears led the Buffs by just 2 points at the half. The Buffs got back into the game in the second half, taking a three point lead with 10:35 remaining. However, the Buffs didn’t score for nearly five minutes, allowing the Bears to go on a 14-0 run.
The Bears outshot the Buffs from the charity stripe and the 3-point arc, shooting 72.2 and 55 percent respectively. The Bears only had two players in the double digits (Heslip and Pierre Jackson), but Heslip’s game-leading scoring was enough for Baylor to take the win.
Once again, Askia Booker led the Buffs with 15 points. Andre Roberson finished with 13 points and rebounds while Austin Dufault and Carlon Brown came in with 14 and 13 respectively. Nate Tomlinson only got two shots off, and ended the game with zero points.
The Buffs end the season with a 24-12 record. Baylor goes on to the Sweet 16 to face the winner of the Lehigh-Xavier game.
