So much for momentum.
After a promising start to conference play, Colorado men’s basketball dropped their second straight conference road game 67-60 to the Oklahoma Sooners (10-9, 2-3 Big 12) Saturday in Norman, Oklahoma. The Buffs fall to a 14-6 record overall, and are 3-2 in league play.
Sixty points is the lowest total the Buffs have scored this season. They shot 40.4 percent from the field, and struggled from behind the 3-point line, scoring only once out of ten attempts. They averaged 7.3 from behind the arc.
Senior guard Cory Higgins and sophomore guard Alec Burks both had 15 points. Freshman forward Andre Roberson had 10 points and four rebounds.
Despite leading early in the first half, the Buffs never could pull away. The Sooners went on the 13-4 run starting at the 7:52 mark, and took a 32-26 lead into half-time.
Oklahoma stretched their lead to as many as 12 points in the second half. The Buffs clawed their way back, getting within two points late in the game, but the Sooners hit their clutch free throws to seal the victory.
The Buffs will return home to try and get their season back on track Tuesday, Jan. 25, when they will take on the Kansas Jayhawks in a sold out game at 6 p.m. in the Coors Events Center.
