Oklahoma—home of the Sooners, the Cowgirls, namesake of a musical and now prime losing territory for the CU women’s tennis team.
Doubles points provide the largest impact on Colorado’s (7-8, 0-4 Big 12) 4-3 loss to Oklahoma (12-2, 3-1 Big 12) on Sunday at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla.
Sunday’s loss arrives only two days after the Buffs’ 2-5 loss against the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla. The losses are the first back-to-back defeats for the Buffs at both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State since 2002.
The Buffs failed to win any doubles matches against the Sooners.
Not faring much better in the singles, senior Melisa Esposito defeated Marie-Pier Huet 6-4, 6-1 to secure her 16th victory of the year. Her win increases her career win tally to 150, tying for fourth in the school’s all-time win list.
Junior Abbie Probert and senior Monica Milewski were the other two Buffs who captured singles victories.
Colorado will attempt to snap their five game losing streak on Saturday at 11 a.m. to face the Mizzou Tigers at the South Campus Courts in Boulder.
