So far there have been eight episodes of the hit show, “Glee.” Some CU students enjoy the show and follow it every week while others have been left with some gaps in their Glee knowledge.
“‘Glee’ is definitely my favorite show this year,” said Kathryn Goggin, an 18-year-old freshman pre-journalism major. “It’s so much different from anything else out there right now and even though some of the show is quite unrealistic—that’s what makes it funny.”
A lot has happened since the episode “The Rhodes Not Taken,” which aired on Sept. 30. The episode that followed that, on Oct. 7, called “Vitamin D,” featured lots of dramatic moments.
In that episode, Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), the glee club coach, challenged his students to have a dance-off between the boys and girls. The winner of the show down got to pick what they would be performing at sectionals.
Also in this episode, Will’s wife, Terri (Jessalyn Gilsig), decides to join the staff at Glee’s high school as the new school nurse, even though she has no prior experience or a degree that enables her to do so. She does this to keep an eye on Will and Emma’s (Jayma Mays) budding romance.
At the end of the episode, Terri quits her job and leaves Will alone at his school.
In the seventh episode, called “Throwdown,” that aired on Oct. 14, Quinn (Dianna Agron) gets an ultrasound and finds out her baby is going to be a girl.
Will’s wife, who is faking her pregnancy, has been keeping information about the baby from her husband, probably because she’s lying and there’s nothing she can tell him. However, in this episode, Will tells her he is tired of being left out of things regarding the baby and demands to go to her next OB appointment.
Terri bribes the doctor to play along with the fact that she is pregnant. He uses the ultrasound from Quinn’s baby for Terri and Will, and Terri is once again successful in her dishonesty. Will starts crying when he finds out they’re “having a girl,” making Terri feel even worse.
At the end of this episode, the Glee Club performs “Keep Holding On,” a song originally performed by Avril Lavigne. The performance was emotional and entertaining to watch.
“The musical aspect of the show is improving from episode to episode and I’m really excited to see how everything will turn out,” said Ariana McEwan, an 18-year-old freshman psychology major.
“Mash-Up” was the eighth episode of the season and aired on Oct. 21. In the episode, Emma decides to say yes to the marriage proposal of her boyfriend, Ken, the football coach. Her lack of affection towards him is obvious, but since she has realized her feelings towards Will won’t ever be culminated, she accepts Ken’s proposal.
Finn (Cory Monteith) is often ridiculed by the football team for his involvement in the Glee Club. He gets a slushie thrown on him by a few of his teammates and as a result, slushies were thrown throughout the rest of the episode.
In this episode Rachel (Lea Michele) starts “dating” the jock who got Quinn pregnant, Puck. It is quite obvious to the viewers that Puck just wants to get in her pants, but Rachel falls for his fake charm anyway.
This relationship doesn’t last long and by the end of the episode, Rachel says goodbye to Puck.
In this latest episode, Finn is faced with the tough decision between football and Glee. He knows if he chooses football, it won’t be his real passion and he’ll lose good friends from Glee Club. However, he also knows that if he chooses Glee over football, he’ll get a slushie thrown at him every day. In the end, he chooses Glee. Good choice, Finn.
Many male viewers seem to view “Glee” as a show geared towards female entertainment. But nonetheless there are some male fans that tune in week after week.
“It’s colorful, and pretty funny,” said Conor Mills-currie, an 18-year-old freshman psychology major. “But the singing gets a little annoying.”
Due to the World Series, there was no new episode aired this past Wednesday. The next episode will be shown on Nov. 11. Glee fans just need to wait another two weeks for more Glee gossip to follow.
