Colorado tennis seniors Melisa Esposito and Camila Belassi now own the title of Silver Doubles Draw champions from the CU Invitational.
Sunday was the final day of the three-day tournament at the CU Tennis Complex at the CU-Boulder South Campus, with Air Force, Colorado State and Louisiana-Lafayette also participating in the tournament.
Esposito and Belassi defeated Anouk Tigu and Claudine Paulson of Arkansas, 9-7, in the match.
“We played really well and consistent throughout the match,” Esposito said in a news release. “It was pretty much everyone holding serves. When we finally got the break, it was important so we held onto it. It was a good win.”
In the Gold Singles Draw, Esposito battled in the finals against CU senior Monica Milewski. After winning in the first set, Milewski was leading in the second set when the match was called by default.
The Buffs will continue offseason tournaments next weekend at the USAFA Invitational at the Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs.
