Police are investigating the cause of death of 23-year-old CU junior Thomas W. Skinner, who was found dead in his home.
Police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said Skinner was found by his roommate in their home on the 2000 block of Baseline Road around 3 p.m. Sept. 4.
According to Huntley preliminary evidence suggests a drug overdose. Lab results are being conducted to verify the exact cause. The coroner’s office has said testing is still underway and the cause of death should be revealed around late September.
High school and college friend Grant Tallmadge remembers Skinner always having a smile on his face and joking around. Tallmadge, who graduated in May of 2008, was a close friend of Skinner’s. He said Skinner liked to have fun and would always try to brighten up someone else’s day.
“He loved snowboarding and was always happy,” Tallmadge said. “He was always trying to cheer other people up and was a good person to be around.”
A service will be held for Skinner at 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 at Rockland Community Church in Golden.
