Colorado lost to Colorado State. Luckily, the defeat didn’t come on the football field.
The CU men’s golf team fell to Colorado State 6-4 on Sunday in the inaugural State of Colorado Cup in Holyoke, Colo. at the Ballyneal Golf & Hunt Club course.
The State of Colorado Cup is an exhibition match similar to the Ryder Cup with it being two teams competing against one another.
The format for the Sunday battle was three four-ball matches and seven singles matches.
In the four-ball matches, the Buffs lost 2-1 with Justin Bardgett and Sebastian Heisele earning CU the lone victory over over Dustin Morris and Bryce Hanstad of CSU.
In the singles matches, CU fell once again, losing 4-3 with Michael Imperato, Sebastian Heisele, and Josh Creel earning the wins for the Buffs.
Colorado will kick off their regular schedule Sept. 11 at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M.
