According to a police report, a University of Colorado Police Department officer discovered three damaged trail signs, one with “numerous bullet holes,” close to Bear Creek apartments on Saturday.
The officer discovered the incident at about noon along a dirt path 500 yards east of the Bear Creek apartments. The officer said he found spray paint on all three signs, which say “Protected Wetland Area…No Trespassing/Strictly Enforced,” according to the report.
In addition to the spray paint, the third sign had about 35 holes which, according to the report, “most likely had been made by a .38 caliber or larger bullet…To the west of the sign(s) are the Bear Creek apartments, almost directly in the most likely line of fire.”
The officer could find any information from passerby or shell casings, and the case was closed.
Sunday
According to the Boulder Police Department blotter, a man robbed a Rite Aid at 4770 Baseline Rd. by passing an employee a note.
“They were able to get away with pills,” said Sarah Huntley, the Boulder PD spokeswoman.
According to the blotter, the suspect passed a note to an employee demanding oxycontin and stating that he had a gun.
“I don’t believe that he ever actually showed the gun,” Huntley said.
When asked for a description of the suspect, Huntley said, “I don’t think we have one that we’re comfortable enough to release.”
According to the blotter, the incident is still under investigation.
Tuesday
St. Patrick’s Day saw a number of incidents, including a possible stabbing on The Hill.
According to the Boulder PD blotter, several fights “involving intoxicated victims” broke out by Pearl Street and on the Hill. Huntley said that one of the victims was a CU student, but the others either were not or whether they were students could not be ascertained.
There was also a stabbing the same day around 9th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue over a phone.
“They all looked to be about the age where they would be a CU student,” Huntley said, but didn’t release any more information because the case is still being investigated.
According to the blotter, the suspect’s girlfriend lost a Blackberry or cell phone. The victim, a man who found the cell phone, arranged to return it, but when he met the suspect he asked for a reward. A fight then broke out in which the victim was allegedly “scratched” by a knife.
