Thursday
CU police are investigating a report of vandalism at the Ekeley Sciences building.
According to a police report, a CU staff member told police that someone had “pulled hard enough” on the Northeast handicapped entrance to break the door. An officer looked at the door and found a latch broken. The staff member estimated the damage at $900.
The case is closed for lack of information.
Saturday
Police arrested an alleged deserter from the Army on Saturday who attempted to escape from a house in Boulder.
According to a police report, officers received a tip from “a party not wishing to be identified” that Christopher Mauger, 21, was AWOL from the U.S. army and staying at 770 29th Street. Mauger had a warrant for his arrest for desertion from the army, which requires nationwide extradition.
When police arrived at the residence, they found Mauger attempting to climb down from the deck. Mauger told police that “he left Army basic training in Georgia while on leave” and that “he was not going to go back.”
Mauger tried to run, but two officers grabbed and tackled Mauger. One of them drew a taser, which was enough to make him cooperate.
Mauger was arrested for deserting from the Army and allegedly resisting arrest, and he was booked into the Boulder County Jail. At the jail, staff learned that Mauger was wearing a thong under his boxers, and found three more pairs of women’s underwear in one of his shirt pockets, according to a police report.
The police report stated that “Mauger refused to say whom the underwear belonged to.”
A phone number did not appear for Mauger on the police report, and a search of CU’s Web site did not reveal any connection to CU.
Sunday
Boulder police responded on Sunday to a report of a sex assault.
The case is under investigation and the report is not yet available, but, according to the blotter, the victim and suspect appear to be acquaintances.
