The Ladies’ Edition
After a two-week break, Hittin’ the Links is back with a special ladies’ edition. This week we join sophomore player Dominique Pytlewski and head coach Anne Kelly of the CU women’s golf team as they demonstrate how to get out of the woods when you’ve missed the fairway.
We’ll also hear from freshman player Stephanie Simich as the three discuss the upcoming Big 12 Championship beginning Friday.
Congratulations! You’ve hit it into the trees again. Don’t fret though. Take this tip from Pytlewski to get back on track.
Here we have a tree directly in the way of your target. Aim your feet where you want the ball to start on its path, and aim the clubface where you want the ball to end up.
The combination of the wing path and the open or closed clubface will cause the ball to curve around the tree towards the target.
This technique requires a fair amount of practice to gauge how much of a curve, and at what height, you want to hit the ball when you’re in the woods. With practice however, this tip is a real round-saver.
Sadly this is the last week of Hittin’ the Links for the summer. Be sure to join us again when the school year starts in August. Until then, best luck out on the course and with each and every round.
Just remember, a few simple tips can change your whole game.
