Women’s tennis team loses second in a row
The women’s tennis team only has one more home game before they head on the road for four games and the Big 12 Championships. They are not heading into it with the momentum they would have liked.
Friday afternoon the Buffs got their second loss in a row, falling 1-6 to No. 14 Texas. The loss gives the Buff’s a record of 7-9 overall and 4-2 in the Big 12. They sit at fourth in the conference.
Head coach Nicole Kenneally said the team did a great job on Friday.
“I feel like we really fought hard out there,” Kenneally said. “We continue to show ourselves and how close we are. We just have to keep believing in ourselves.”
During the match at the CU South Campus, the wind began to pick up, which gave different curves on the hits. Senior Gleisy Torres Torres said the wind did not affect the Buffs.
“Sometimes it can get really windy, but we always use it to our advantage,” Torres Torres said. “I guess Texas knew how to play.”
Junior Monica Milewski said she hopes the loss with help the Buffs overcome Texas A&M in their next game.
“Hopefully everyone gets pissed and takes it out on A&M,” Milewski said. “Hopefully we can get a good win on Sunday.”
It will be the last home match for Torres Torres as a Buff. She said she hopes to see Buff fans in the stands come Sunday.
“It’s obviously been a great experience,” Torres Torres said. “I would like to encourage the fans to come out and support during the last home match.”
