Movie campaign involves students
There have been creative movie marketing campaigns over the years but few top the newest campaign for the new Batman movie “The Dark Knight.”
While the film does not come out until July 18, the marketing campaign is already in full swing around the country and even made a stop in Boulder on March 20.
The campaign surrounds Harvey Dent, better known as the villian Two Face, and his goal to become the district attorney for Gotham City, which is a major part of the upcoming summer movie. Many Batman fans at CU were eager to do their part.
“My friend and I knew it would be fun,” said Sean Forrest, 20, a junior film studies major. “We are both excited for ‘The Dark Knight’ so we wanted to check it out- I am a huge Batman fan.”
The campaign took place on Pearl St. as well as on the Hill. Students and anyone else who felt like participating had the opportunity to sign petitions, parade with signs, wear T-shirts and hand out buttons.
While keeping in mind the Harvey Dent campaign is only for a movie, it did not stop some from getting as involved as possible.
“I think Harvey Dent is going to do great things for Gotham,” said Luke Chavez, 19, a freshman theater major, as he handed out buttons around the Hill.
Some even came to find the campaign after learning about it online.
“I knew it was coming here; I saw the Web site,” said 21-year-old Beau Chavez.
The Web site promotes the “Dentmobile” as it goes from city to city and allows fans to download materials to use as the campaign continues.
For those who want to participate in the campaign but missed the opportunity in Boulder, there is another chance on March 21 in Denver. The campaign will be at the Denver Skatepark from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Auraria Campus from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and at the 16th Street Mall from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
