Position may be filled by July
As one of its leaders departs, CU will once again begin the search for a new vice chancellor.
After nine years as vice chancellor for student affairs, Ron Stump told members of Student Affairs on Dec. 20, 2007, of his plans to leave by July 1 of this year.
Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Phil DiStefano will be in charge of conducting a nation-wide search for CU’s next vice chancellor. As of now, there is no official search committee at hand or any potential candidates, but DiStefano plans to have the committee formed by the end of this month.
“The position has not yet been posted so no one to my knowledge has stepped forward to say that they are a candidate for the position,” Stump said.

However, the process will start to speed up within the next two months, when DiStefano said he and his search committee plan to “advertise the position in national outlets and the search committee screen the applicant.”
“The search committee will give me a list of four to six names of individuals that they would like to invite to campus for interviews by March or April,” DiStefano said.
DiStefano will then receive feedback after the candidates meet individually with the search committee. Once the list is narrowed down, DiStefano himself will chose the next vice chancellor for Student Affairs with the approval of Chancellor G.P. “Bud” Peterson.
Although the timeline for electing Stump’s successor is unknown, “.it is theoretically possible that we could complete the search by July,” CU spokesman Bronson Hilliard said.
