Event seeks to put the best of Boulder on display
To celebrate Boulder’s artistic talents, CU is hosting Arts and Culture Week beginning September 13.
Arts and Culture week will feature a range of events by various CU-Boulder programs. Participants include the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, the Dennis Small Cultural Center, CU Museum of Natural History, the University Libraries and the College of Music.
Museum open houses highlighting the Paleontology Hall, Anthropology Hall, Biology Hall, and the temporary exhibitions of “Temple of the Warriors: Rebuilding a Maya Monument”, “Let Your Light Shine” and “Crossing Borders” can be seen.
Shows from the International Film Series such as the “Guatemalan Handshake,” “Plagues and Pleasures of the Salton Sea,” and “Killer of Sheep” will be playing. The topics of the movies are eccentric and deal with lost love, history and religion.
For the astronomy buffs, the Fiske Planetarium hosts “Astronomy Day”. Topics like space storms and research done at CU will be covered.
The price of each activity depends on the event. Many shows are free of cost with the exception of the International Film series, which is a $5 general admission fee and $4 to CU students.
