To Colorado University staff, faculty, and students:
We, the members of the CU Buffoons, apologize profusely for the offensive comments recently made. We acknowledge that they did more than cross the line of acceptable behavior; they extend well beyond the realms of inappropriateness and bad taste. Though we cannot take back our actions – as much as we would like to – we are attempting to take the necessary course of action to rectify our error.
We first would like to apologize to Michael Knorps who has remained courageous throughout this endeavor. In addition, we would like to apologize to Michael’s family. We were wrong to make light of the horrifying situation thrust upon your family and never had any intention to worsen your worry or grief. We would also like to apologize to former Buffoons for acting in such an unprofessional and childish way. We Buffoons take pride in our ability to represent both the student body and the administration. Clearly, we have failed.
In further attempts to correct an inconceivable mistake, we have dismissed the member of the group responsible for such comments. The Buffoons have been, and forever will be, positive representatives of the university to the public. Because of the actions that have taken place in the past few days, we have severed all ties with the member who is responsible for the offending comments.
We all regret this incident and hope to see this malfeasance, as well as thoughts of campus violence and insecurity, fade into thoughts of the past.
Regretfully,
Colin Birkhead – Business Manager, CU Buffoons
