So, you’re on campus, but now what? Why not get involved in some clubs?
The UMC is home to many student organization offices. With six floors, it’s massive, but don’t worry, Campus Press has you covered.
Here are a few of the student groups that are located in the UMC. This is a select few, so feel free to jump on the UMC’s Web site at
Program Council
- What: Program Council is the group that organizes and runs many concert and movie showings at CU. Program Council also puts on shows at Club 156 in the UMC Connection, also known as the bowling alley. The group also has sneak peaks of movies and has a Street Team that helps promote shows and movies.

Radio 1190
- What: CU’s campus radio station. This is a student-run station that plays independent music and artists. Volunteers can DJ or be on the Street Team. Radio 1190 presents shows all over Denver and Boulder and Street Teamers get to go to them for free while promoting the station. Radio 1190 is a commercial-free, independent radio station and is always looking for new volunteers.

Boulder Freeride
- What: CU’s ski and snowboard club, Freeride has been student-run and non-profit since 1933. They have 12 board members and hire new members each semester. The club has year-round activities, including a big camping trip in the fall. Freeride also hosts skiing and snowboarding movie premiers and on-the-mountain barbecues. Past trips have been to Steamboat for Thanksgiving, Jackson Hole for winter break and Aspen for the X-games.

Cultural Events Board
- What: The Cultural Events Board sponsors speakers to come to CU and speak to students and the community about current issues. It has one of the largest budgets of all the UCSU funded groups, which it uses to bring people like B.B. King, Spike Lee and Ann Coulter.
