Delay’s expertise on the Mexican/American relationship was explored
Many professors are interviewed on TV but it’s not often one of them is from CU. On Sept. 29, assistant history Professor Brian DeLay was presented on the History Channel to discuss his focus on studying the Mexican-American war.
DeLay has been an assistant professor at CU for three years and is also a CU alumnus. Six other history scholars from around the country were also interviewed for the show. These interviews were accompanied by re-creations of battles from the war in a two-hour special hosted by retired boxer Oscar De La Hoya.
DeLay got this opportunity after another CU history professor turned it down.
“I am excited to part of such a big production,” DeLay said.
As part of the filming, DeLay flew to San Antonio and was interviewed in a historical home along with the other scholars.
“The director was interested in my historical interpretation of the Indians and the relationship between the Mexicans and Americans,” DeLay said.
