Memorial to be held Sept. 13
A CU student was killed after being hit by a car in Las Vegas over Labor Day weekend.
Kaitlyn Joy Jenkins, 20, was visiting Las Vegas for a Tool concert when she was killed. Other details about the accident were not released.
Jenkins, a pre-journalism major, was looking forward to starting a new school year after taking a year off to work at Dolan’s Restaurant in Boulder to gain in-state residency, said friend Kaitlyn Curtin.
“She was a beautiful person and very outgoing,” Curtin said. “She was so excited for life.”
Jenkins, originally from Marietta, Ga., loved to travel and enjoyed the arts.
“She was so excited about the many opportunities that seemed to stretch forever before her and she loved to travel,” her family said in a published obituary. “This past year alone, Kaitlyn toured the rain forests of Costa Rica.”
Services will be held Saturday in Marietta.
Curtin said there will be a memorial gathering at the Gamow Tower on the CU campus from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 13, where anyone is welcome to come and share memories of Kaitlyn.
