Less than a month after a CU Boulder student was charged with false reporting regarding an attack on the Hill, another young woman has been cited for fabricating a story about being sexually assaulted.
Boulder police charged 18-year-old Allyson Manley, who first told police about the supposed assault in October. At the time, she said that a man driving a yellow sedan got out of his car and attempted to attack her after seeing her walking alone around Big Horn Street and Star Lane, about three miles from campus.
According to the University of Colorado at Boulder directory, Manley is a freshman.
She was issued a citation for false reporting on Feb. 14, when investigators determined that the assault did not occur after reviewing the information of the case.
“Investigators tracked down leads called in by the community and submitted numerous pieces of potential evidence to the crime lab,” a Boulder Police Department press release states.
“Investigators determined the initial statements provided by Ms. Manley conflicted with the information they had gathered.”
Manley could face a misdemeanor charge of a maximum six months in jail and a $750 fine.
