The losing streak for women’s volleyball continues.
At Matt Arena in Eugene, Ore. on Sunday afternoon, the Buffs fell in three sets to the No. 16 Oregon Ducks (25-21, 25-18, 25-18).
Junior Kerra Schroeder led Colorado’s offense, hitting .294 and recording 12 of CU’s 32 total kills. Freshman Kelsey English also added six kills. Senior Anicia Santos, who led in blocks with three, also contributed four kills. As a team, Colorado’s hitting percentage was .182.
Schroeder also led on the defensive end with 15 of CU’s 41 digs. Sophomores Elysse Richardson and Megan Beckwith added nine and eight digs, respectively.
In the first set, Colorado started out strong with a 7-3 lead. The Ducks quickly responded, though, tying the score at 8-8. While the rest of the set was close, Oregon held onto the lead and took the 25-21 set victory.
Again, the Buffs went up 7-5 early in the second set. Oregon then rallied to a 14-9 lead and the gap would only grow from there. The Buffs fell behind 21-14 before Oregon closed the set with a 25-18 win.
The Ducks gained an 11-6 advantage in the third set. While the Buffs tried to close the gap at 14-11, they could not stop Oregon from pulling ahead. The Ducks widened their lead to 18-11 before taking the set 25-18 for the overall match victory.
With the loss, Colorado continues its 15-game conference-losing streak. The Buffs’ record falls to 5-18 overall and 0-15 in the Pac-12, while the Ducks are 15-7 overall and 8-6 in the Pac-12.
The Buffs have seven conference matches remaining. They take to the court at the Coors Events Center at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, battling the No. 5 Stanford Cardinals and again at 1 p.m. on Saturday against the No. 2 California Bears.
