Editorial: Journalism undergraduates: Take your future into your own hands

About Kate Spencer

Kate has been covering news on the University of Colorado-Boulder campus since August 2007 as reporter, news editor, managing editor and editor-in-chief of the CU Independent. She has specialized in political coverage of the Colorado State Legislature and higher education in Colorado, and currently keeps a Posterous blog about student journalism and higher education. Currently, she works with the CU Independent as an ambassador to the CU campus and Boulder community. She has previously worked with the Colorado Veterinary Medical Foundation, Delicious Living Magazine and the House of Representatives at the state capitol. A native Coloradoan, Spencer has studied abroad in Spain and Morocco and traveled throughout Western Europe. She currently works with international students in CU's Office of International Education, pairing international students and scholars with Boulder host families. Spencer will graduate from CU in May 2011 with a double degree in news-editorial journalism and international affairs.
