A man now in custody after being involved in a standoff yesterday at Boulder Community Hospital, has been confirmed as being both a student and employee at CU.
Cmdr. Tim McGraw of CUPD said the man, now identified as Donald Shine, worked for campus security for roughly a year.
“Essentially, [Shine worked] in a subset of the department that we call the [Campus Safety Organization],” McGraw said. “His duties were unarmed security person, to unlock buildings and lock buildings, things like that.”
According to the CU website, Shine was also a student at CU, majoring in environmental design.
Shine was involved in a standoff yesterday afternoon at Boulder Community Hospital, when Boulder PD received a call of a armed suicidal man outside the hospital.
