CU has released the identity of the student found dead in his Baker dorm room Sunday night.
According to an e-mail sent to Baker Hall residents, the student was Tyler Stevenson, from Parker, CO.
Megan Harris, the hall director for Baker, wrote in an e-mail to Baker residents that the university was not allowed to release this information until the coroner confirmed the identity and notified the next of kin.
Harris also wrote that the cause of death remains unknown.
“We do not know why Tyler passed away,” she said in the email. “I know this can make it difficult to process through the situation and have some closure. What I can tell you is that the coroner has confirmed no signs at all of meningitis, nor foul play.”
CUPD Commander Tim McGraw said earlier today that the police department is waiting on the coroner to determine the cause of death.
Harris also wrote that Counseling and Psychological Services is available to anyone who may need grief counseling.
“You may not feel anything right now, or may not notice that there are some changes in your concentration, maybe more headaches; maybe an inability to sleep that is not normal for you,” she wrote in the email. “Please remember that Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) has a 24-hour phone 303-492-6766 that you can call at any time, even if it is late at night.”
CAPS also has walk-in hours available at their office in the Center for Community.
More information will be released as it becomes available. Read the CUIndependent article that first broke this news.

PLEASE CORRECT – The CORONER released the student’s identity already, not CU.
