Bathroom fire at Hapa Sushi

No injuries reported

The Boulder Fire Department is reopening the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 13th Street.

Firefighters closed the area after the Boulder Fire Department responded to a small electrical fire at Hapa Sushi Grill and Sake Bar, said Battalion Chief Andrew Fogg.

“When we first got there, there was quite a bit of smoke,” Fogg said.

The Boulder Fire Department received the call at 12:24 p.m., Fogg said, and that a short from the bathroom fan caused the fire.

During the fire, firefighters evacuated the restaurant and second floor apartments as well as closed 13th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue for public safety, Fogg said.

The firefighters contained the fire to the bathroom and there were no injuries, he said.

“It was probably a couple thousand [dollars worth of damage,]” Fogg said.
