Apps make life a bit easier by conveniently having a bit of everything from social to financial, to even something a bit more comical in nature.
Beverly Munoz-Sotelo, a 20-year-old junior political science and sociology major, said she enjoys the fact that apps are no longer only for the iPhone, but also for the Droid and other smart phones.
“I have a Droid and I like that you can also purchase apps for it [like you can with the iPhone],” Munoz-Sotelo said. “I like that there’s an app for Facebook that has special features and I also use the Chase app. to quickly check my bank account balances in between classes.”
According to PC World, the current apps to watch are the ones that utilize various forms of mobilization. Students have their own ideas as to which apps are relevant.
“I think the ‘R UDrunk?’ app is pretty funny,” said 19-year-old sophomore environmental studies major Yolande Geyer. “The app gives you tests to try and see if you are legally drunk or will get a DUI. I’ve done them with my friends just to see what they were about. The tests are totally bogus, but they are good if you are in need of a laugh.”
Apps also make the sharing of information easier.
“My favorite application is the Bump app,” said 19-year-old international affairs major Guadalupe Ortega. “I think it’s cool that you can trade numbers, pictures, and Facebook info through simply bumping your phone with someone elses. I have ‘bumped’ with people at parties and made a whole bunch of new Facebook friends.”
