Colorado’s men’s golf team lost to Colorado State at the State of Colorado Cup Monday at Ballyneal Golf & Hunt Club in Holyoke, Colo. An afternoon run gave the Rams the win in match play, 5 ½ to 4 ½.
The Buffs open the day by winning two of the three Four-Ball matches. Seniors Michael Imperato and Luke Symons came out the strongest of the tournaments pairings, beating Colorado State junior Kory Harrell and sophomore Scott Newton by a score of 5 and 4.
In singles play sophomore Pat Wilson, Colorado’s new recruit from Australia, defeated CSU freshman Jackson Giro 1 up through 18 holes.
Colorado junior Kevin Kring halved his match against freshman Richard Schneider, giving the Buffs and final score of 4 ½.
Unlike the excitement at end last year’s tournament, many of the matches ended at the same time. The Buffs dropped 4-of-5 remaining matches, giving Colorado State a final score of 5 ½.
Colorado will travel to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for the Air Force Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. The tournament tees of Sunday, Sept. 19 at the Eisenhower Blue Golf Course.
